Success comes after this

Saturdays. The day we do the chores that tend to put off.

Today we were vacuuming under our couch cushions. My 16 year old needed a lesson on how to do this well. You don’t go over an area once and expect it to be ‘clean enough’. You go over a few times, from different angles, until you’ve reached the desired level of cleanliness.

To help him understand this concept I used an example he would understand… Marketing. He took a couple marketing classes in grade 10 (the joys of homeschooling).

When sharing a message with the world you don’t explain something once and expect that to get the job done. You must go over it again, and again, from slightly different angles and keep at it until the desired result it achieved. Agitate. Rub it. Back and forth. Repeat.

This takes time. Marketing takes time. It’s a process. It requires patience.

Succeeding in life is like as well...

You don’t work for a goal and give up after one shot. You give it a go, and if the desired result wasn’t achieved you go at it again, then again, shifting your position each time, getting closer with each pass.

Life requires persistence and consistency.

This is also true for vacuuming…

My 16 year old learned that to do a job well you must go over an area multiple times. One pass rarely gets the job done.

Agitate. Rub it. Back and forth. Repeat.

Your life…

What are you working towards? What results are you aiming for?

Don’t quite after one shot. Persist. And when obstacles come, as they will… push past them.

Those who’ve succeeded in anything of value understand that success comes after persistence.

So stick with it until you achieve the results you desire.
